Inspiration Monday: no time to bleed

by December 19, 2011
2 minutes read

So Christmas is Sunday! I won’t have web access on Monday, but I’ll post prompts with the “publish later” feature – this just means I might not have linked to your story yet if you post it after, say, Saturday. I will update the post Tuesday night with any missing links. But I’ll run through all this Friday. Unless I forget. If I do forget – merry Christmas everybody! Or happy Hanukkah!

The Rules

There are none. Read the prompts, get inspired, write something. No word count minimum or maximum. You don’t have to include the exact prompt in your piece, and you can interpret the prompt(s) any way you like.

OR

No really; I need rules!

Okay; write 200-500 words on the prompt of your choice. You may either use the prompt as the title of your piece or work it into the body of your piece. You must complete it before 6 pm CST on the Monday following this post.

The Prompts:

no time to bleed*
things we lost in the fire**
clockwork soul
wandering mind
safe word

Want to share your Inspiration Monday piece? Post it on your blog and link back to today’s post; I’ll include a link to your piece in the next Inspiration Monday post. No blog? Email your piece to me at bekindrewrite (at) yahoo (dot) com.

Happy writing!

*The only line I know from Predator. Unless “Get to the chopper!” is the same movie???

**Another movie I haven’t seen. But what a title!

    1. Maybe you can break with tradition and write off a prompt or two, just this once? even if you don’t there’s plenty of great reading every week. Thanks for commenting!

  1. Please tell me you are familiar with Lackadaisy Cats by Tracy Butler. If you are not, you should be. πŸ™‚
Your post “clockwork soul” reminds me of a picture she did of one of her characters. You should see it.

    1. I heard of it a couple years ago, but never actually read it. But I love steampunk – I felt rather bereft of web comicdom when I caught up to the present in Girl Genius last week. Maybe I’ll have to check out Lackadaisy for real.

  2. Don’t worry, Lackadaisy isn’t a huge commitment, as Tracy, fantastic as she is, is excessively slow in her updates. You may hear cheering across the interwebs every time she posts a new page. πŸ˜‰

Have a wonderful day tomorrow! Peace and Joy.

    1. Ah, but there’s catching up to do. I had to catch up on nine years of Girl Genius. Of course it was great fun. When I finally caught up, the absence of the “next” button at the bottom of the page was traumatizing. I’m bookmarking Lackadaisy now.

  3. Hey, I missed the last Inspiration Monday due to a heavy workload, is there going to be one this week as well or are you guys on Christmas/New year break?
