Inspiration Monday: follow the colors

by November 14, 2011
2 minutes read

I had a great weekend! Saw some family, bought some books, drank really good coffee. Finished re-reading the Hobbit and I think I found what I want on my tombstone (because what writer hasn’t thought about that?). Ten million awesome points if you can guess what I picked! Or you could spend your time reading these awesome pieces instead:

The Rules

There are none. Read the prompts, get inspired, write something. No word count minimum or maximum. You don’t have to include the exact prompt in your piece, and you can interpret the prompt(s) any way you like.

OR

No really; I need rules!

Okay; write 200-500 words on the prompt of your choice. You may either use the prompt as the title of your piece or work it into the body of your piece. You must complete it before 6 pm CST on the Monday following this post.

The Prompts:

Follow the colors
Time kills
Never stopped running
Too easy
The nicest thing anyone’s ever said to me

Want to share your Inspiration Monday piece? Post it on your blog and link back to today’s post; I’ll include a link to your piece in the next Inspiration Monday post. No blog? Email your piece to me at bekindrewrite (at) yahoo (dot) com.

Happy writing!

  4. So, I didn’t really feel like making a post for this. It didn’t seem worth it. But I wanted to show it to you anyway. I felt quite dark and twisted while writing the whole eighty words of nonsense.

Are you going to kill me now?

A sickening smile. Grim delight. Yes dear, I am.

Burning. The taste of ashes hung thick in the air.

    Pain. Unimaginable, thought destroying.

Wishing not for death, but for nonexistence

    To never have been born.

Rotting. Singed flesh down to the bone.

I can’t take this anymore. Please.

Too easy. Fighting the pain no more.

    SO KILL ME NOW!

I’ll follow the colors all the way home.
