Inspiration Monday: don’t run

by September 12, 2011
2 minutes read

This week, I noticed that I have a disturbing new habit of sticking apostrophes where they don’t belong, on plural word’s. <like that! ME! I usually notice and fix it before anyone else reads it, but it frightens me nonetheless because I have never done that before. Am I losing my mind???

Don’t answer that.

Instead, read some fantastic pieces from these writers, who may or may not be sane:

The Rules

There are none. Read the prompts, get inspired, write something. No word count minimum or maximum. You don’t have to include the exact prompt in your piece, and you can interpret the prompt(s) any way you like.

OR

No really; I need rules!

Okay; write 200-500 words on the prompt of your choice. You may either use the prompt as the title of your piece or work it into the body of your piece. You must complete it before 6 pm CST on the Monday following this post.

The Prompts:

Don’t run
Different kind of heart attack
Five minutes of freedom
The party ended early
One person is enough

Want to share your Inspiration Monday piece? Post it on your blog and link back to today’s post; I’ll include a link to your piece in the next Inspiration Monday post. No blog? Email your piece to me at bekindrewrite (at) yahoo (dot) com.

Plus, get the InMon badge for your site here.

Happy writing!

P.S. Saturday I posted examples of what some Voice Week pieces MIGHT look like. Check them out here.

    1. Okay, if you want to link a specific post back here, after you write your piece, but before you publish it, highlight the word you want to link (like “Inspiration Monday prompt” or whatever) and click on the little chain icon at the top of the text box (if you hover over the button it says “insert link”). A window will pop up and you can just paste in the URL of this InMon post: http://bekindrewrite.wordpress.com/2011/09/12/inspiration-monday-dont-run/
Then click the “add link” button.
That way, your post will show up in my comments.

OR if you want to link to my homepage on your home page, go to the “links” section on your dashboard, click “add new link,” write BeKindRewrite in the first box, and paste this URL in the second box: http://bekindrewrite.wordpress.com/
Then check the box for which link category you want to put it in (blogroll, for instance). Then click the “add link” button.
THEN click on “widgets” (under “Appearance” on your dashboard). Find the “links” widget (it should be right in the middle of the page) and drag it to the area on the right (your sidebar?) and click “save.” You can add more links to other friend’s blogs the same way – they’ll all show up on your homepage. BUT I won’t get a notification that you linked to me or anything, so for InMon purposes, just do the first method.

I hope that helps! I know it’s complicated. I’m still figuring out things on here myself. Thanks for linking!!
