The Voice Week prize arrived in the mail the other day: a new hardcover copy of The Book Thief, one of my favorite books and an excellent study of voice. I pick the winner randomly from the Voice Week participants, so be sure to sign up if you want it!
You can read examples of past Voice Week pieces at VWHQ. Questions? Ask in the comments, or by email if you’re shy. If you want to participate but don’t have a blog, you can always email me your pieces and I’ll post them here under your name.
Seriously, guys, don’t feel daunted. This is a really friendly and supportive community, and we’re all just here to learn. Tell me in the comments if you want to join in!
And if you need inspiration, there’s always some excellent InMon pieces to read:

The Rules
There are none. Read the prompts, get inspired, write something. No word count minimum or maximum. You don’t have to include the exact prompt in your piece, and you can interpret the prompt(s) any way you like.
OR
No really; I need rules!
Okay; write 200-500 words on the prompt of your choice. You may either use the prompt as the title of your piece or work it into the body of your piece. You must complete it before 6 pm CST on the Monday following this post.
The Prompts:
TABLE FOR TWO
GRUNGE
CLAIM YOUR ISLAND
EASY COSTUME
INCHES AWAY
Want to share your Inspiration Monday piece? Post it on your blog and link back to today’s post; I’ll include a link to your piece in the next Inspiration Monday post. No blog? Plus, get the InMon badge for your site here.
Happy writing!
