THE NARRATOR
Perspective, interpretive knowledge, focalization and structure are the narrator’s characteristics. Perspective and interpretive knowledge are essential characteristics of the narrator. Focalization and structure are lateral.
Perspective
The narrator in the stories that narrated by I perspective is protagonist and the main subject. We become aware of the events and charactersof story by his view to and his knowledge of the story.
If the narrator of the story is not present or is present but not a protagonist and a story told by someone else and not his own, the story is narrated by He/She perspective.
Interpretive knowledge
a.Spectator
The narrator narrates the story like a camera replaying.
b.Interpreter
b.1. Analysis and interpretation of events and judgments and behaviors of characters
b.2. Being aware of the thoughts, intentions and objectives of characters
Structure
it’s determined by using the first-person, second-person or third-person pronoun for protagonist.
Focalization
It’s used only for the viewer narrator type. Solofocus just focused on protagonist. Difocus; The narrator is in the story but is NOT protagonist. Polyfocus narrates about all characters.
