Inspiration Monday: Truth decay

So last Friday I announced Voice Week! We’ve already got 9 Rewriters (including myself) raring to go. Check out the blogroll on the VW homepage to see who’s playing, and comment anywhere to let me know you want to join in. The fun starts September 26!

But what am I saying? The fun started a long time ago! And continues with this week’s InMon pieces:

Inspiration Monday: patchwork people

As you can see, I’m giving up Roman numerals. The simple system is apparently too complex for my highly distractible mind. So I opted to save myself the trouble and just use titles instead! Plus it creates a bit more interest, dontcha think?

Some really enjoyable pieces this week; be sure to read up! And be sure to tune in Friday as we unveil *gasp* the Super Secret Project!!!

Inspiration Monday XXX

Okay, guys. I see those raised eyebrows. You can push them right back down. “XXX” is a Roman numeral for “30.” No explicit content is required or desired. Of course, there are still no rules for InMon, but I’ll love you more if you keep it PG. : )

Meanwhile, read some of last week’s brilliant submissions!

The Rules

There are none. Read the prompts, get inspired, write something. No word count minimum or maximum. You don’t have to include the exact prompt in your piece, and you can interpret the prompt(s) any way you like.

OR

No really; I need rules!

Okay; write 200-500 words on the prompt of your choice. You may either use the prompt as the title of your piece or work it into the body of your piece. You must complete it before 6 pm CST on the Monday following this post.

The Prompts:

Better left unsaid
Hidden since the beginning of time
Don’t let me go
An  odd thing to steal
The only way to stop him

Sooo, on further reflection (that is, after Kay pointed it out), I realized this is not InMon 30 after all, and last week was not InMon 29; it was 24. But since many of you have already labeled posts with those numbers, I’m leaving the title of this post as-is. Next week we’ll switch to InMon titles!

Inspiration Monday XXIX

Computer’s all squared away, now, as far as I can tell. My advice: when you buy a new computer and it tells you to back up your OS, do it (I did it). And if, as I suspect most writers do, you keep your whole life on that computer, I highly recommend paying for some kind of online backup service (I did). Otherwise I would have lost six months of work! Now, with your renewed sense of the value of the written word, read some of these fabulous pieces:

The last unknown
We’re strangers now
New dog, same old tricks
I learned the power of words too late
What they wanted me to be

Inspiration Monday XXIII

Sorry I’m late, guys: computer problems! Still haven’t got them all squared away – I’m typing this on my work computer – so things may be a little spotty this weekend as well, but I’m hoping for the best. In the meantime, y’all can have fun reading! And writing! And remember, you can tweak the prompts any way you want to suit your story. : )

Useless machine
Waiting for the end
The one thing you should never forget
We all knew the rule*
Her nose gave her away

*Happens to be the first sentence of a short story I wrote awhile back. Too long to post, I think.
