The Time Has Come: Inspiration Monday Closes

It’s been nearly seven years since I started posting weekly writing prompts under the title Inspiration Monday, and it’s been a wonderful seven years. You all have inspired me with your interpretations, your stories, your talent.

Things have been slowing down for awhile now, and it’s become clear to me why: I’ve done my job. There is plenty of inspiration within each of you, in your own memories and creativity.

I’ve been wanting to retire from InMon for more than a year now, but I put it off because I’m sentimental and terrible at letting go of things, and because I didn’t want to disappoint you all. The Ray Bradbury theme came to me entirely separately, simply as a change of pace I thought would be fun, but as the year came to a close and I started re-evaluating my various commitments, I realized it was the perfect opportunity to pass the baton to you all.

Your lists are fantastic, there is plenty of wonder and inspiration and story in them. The ideas never came from me anyway; I was only a nudge, a conduit, a space for a community. I hope you will continue to read each other’s work, to inspire and encourage each other. And I hope you’ll stay subscribed so I can send you updates or additional writing discoveries from time to time.

BeKindRewrite is certainly not going away, though I have no idea what I’ll be posting, or how often.

To every InMonster who has ever contributed to Inspiration Monday, and especially those of you who have stuck around to the end, thank you so much. How strange and beautiful that these funny machines can connect us across oceans to share our words and worlds with one another.

See you around the blogosphere!

  1. Hand over heart, and a nod of thanks. I won’t be going anywhere, and neither will you. But there’s always the bittersweet in memories of past things as time keeps moving on. Thank you for all the hard work you put into this, and the wonder you’ve spread around. ^_^

  2. Damn… :'(
I’m really gonna miss InMon and your helping hand Steph. Though you say you were a conduit, you were more than that and for someone lazy like me, the prompts were something to motivate, to put a spark to the kindling and to more often than not just get me off my butt when I was avoiding sitting down to write.
I can’t believe it’s been as long as it has that I discovered this blog/site of yours but while I’m sad to see this little corner of the internet be put to rest, I’m grateful for the time and effort you put into it.
Thank you for doing all you did and helping out all of us out here who found a common little place of fun here and under the aegis of InMon.
    Cheers!

  3. ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO AN END BABYGIRL. HAVE NOT SEEN OR HEARD FROM YOU IN QUITE A SPELL. BEEN MISSING YOU ANYWAYS. GO WITH GOD. XOXO.

  4. Thanks for all the time and effort, encouragement and inspiration. Nothing lasts forever. A couple of old friends will miss you, Fortescue and Smythe, send their regards.

I haven’t been your most regular contributor – you know what life is like – but I’ll hang around and see what else you get up to.

    Onward and upward!

  5. Hi Stephanie, I too am guilty of life changes. Some good, some not so much after a rough couple of years. My head still nearly explodes with ideas but I don’t write them down. And there they remain, waiting for the keyboard muse. I always look at your posts when they come through and look forward to whatever you decide to do with BeKindRewrite. Best of luck to you and your future endeavors.

    • Aww Debra! Long time, no see! You were instrumental in make InMon come to life! I’m sorry to hear things have been rough, and I really hope you pick up the pen again. It was always a pleasure.

  6. I can’t help but be sad. I have thoroughly enjoyed joining in these Monday prompts, and will miss them. I’ll keep checking in on you, and am looking forward to what you do from here. Much love and luck to you, Stephanie.

  7. Thank you for everything, Stephanie. InMon has been one of the things that dragged me away from putting down my figurative pen for good so many times. I appreciate all the effort you’ve put in over the years, and wish you all the best in the future.

  8. I’m sorry to see it go, but I understand. I didn’t contribute much last year to any of the prompts I tended to use. Last year was kind of awful.

  9. This is belated but sincere ~ Thanks for the inspiration Stephanie 😊🌷

  10. I came wandering here looking for inspiration, as I have been doing once in a blue moon every (other) now and then over the years, only to see this heartbreaking post!

I hope I am not too late in thanking you for inspiring me to write. Although I was not as regular as I would have liked to be, but I loved the few challenges I did manage to get to.

Heartfelt Thank You for lighting the lamp of inspiration among so many of your followers. I hope you are enjoying all the things you are doing now! I will miss this!
