Inspiration Monday: Felt Castles

0 Flares Filament.io 0 Flares ×

This week on InMon Dateline: So I heard some new Good Charlotte song. And it’s like, all nostalgic about the ’90s. Or something. I guess I don’t really understand how you can already be nostalgic about the ’90s. But this is coming from someone who still wears flare legs and scrunchies.

The long hair struggle is real, y’all.

In other news, no news is good news, I suppose. A busy week for the InMonsters. I understand, believe me. I’m giving you fresh prompts anyway! Holla if I missed you.

SEE? I missed Tara!

The Rules

There are none. Read the prompts, get inspired, write something. No word count minimum or maximum. You don’t have to include the exact prompt in your piece, and you can interpret the prompt(s) any way you like.

OR

No really; I need rules!

Okay; write 200-500 words on the prompt of your choice. You may either use the prompt as the title of your piece or work it into the body of your piece. You must complete it before 6 pm CST on the Monday following this post.

The Prompts:*

FELT CASTLES
WISHING CHAIR
UNPLEASANT TALENT
THOUGHT DOUBT
RE-BRIEF
Want to share your Inspiration Monday piece? Post it on your blog and then give me the link in the comments below (I’ll also love you more if you link back to me); I’ll include a link to your piece in the next Inspiration Monday post. No blog? Email your piece to me at stephanie (at) bekindrewrite (dot) com. (I do reserve the right to NOT link to a piece as stated in my Link Discretion Policy.)

Happy writing!

  3. There are days when I miss my long hair. And days when I don’t. But I’ve never missed scrunchies. They never would stay in my hair for more than a minute.

    • Mmm. Depends on the hair. Scrunchies stay in well for me and are less painful than regular hair ties. But I can’t use large claw clips, for instance. They do nothing for my thin hair. I have to use the small ones.

      • I can use claws. I guess I have thicker hair, but really slippery… It flatly refuses to stay braided, or really to do anything I tell it to do.

        • That is…tragic. I love braids.

The tragedy of my life is that I wore too many cheap earrings in high school and now I can’t wear ANY. Ears get all painful and gross. Had to let the holes close up. Sigh.

          • Yeah, I love braids on other people, but they just won’t stay in my hair. On the plus side, my hair generally looks ok doing its own thing. If it didn’t, I’d probably just shave it. It’s funny. During chemo, before it fell out, my hair turned curly and red. Like, curly curly. When it came back, it was the same old dirty, sliiiiightly strawberry blond and as straight as ever. Human bodies are weird.

Ach, that is sad. 🙁 I love crazy earrings.
I had trouble with that when I wore studs, but when I switched to wires, I was ok. Apparently my ears need to breathe.

My godmother had a metal allergy, and was only able to wear gold (non-reactive, therefore hypoallergenic) jewelry.

          • Yeah, I tried hypoallergenic. But it was too late. Alack! Alack!

There’s a new kind of “clip on” earring that actually hooks over the little notch in the front of your ear instead of pinching your lobes. I may try those eventually.

  5. oo, cool!
And I assume you can wear ear-cuffs? There are some truly awesome ones out there, these days. Maybe we can puzzle out some new designs. I like beadwork, and my mother is good at wire-work.
