I suppose the inquisitive form of the maniacal laugh is for use when you did not intend to cause pain, but are willing to accept the credit for it anyway.

I dunno, bright yellow toothbrushes are weird. It looks dirty. My teeth are yellow from coffee/tea anyway. I tell people I had them professionally antiqued.
