Inspiration Monday: Book Drowning

0 Flares Filament.io 0 Flares ×

This week at InMon Resort: Forgot it was Monday but I still posted prompts in time. XD In other news, one of the lesser-known side effects of drinking tumeric tea is that your toothbrush turns yellow. In OTHER news, a certain chapter of a certain book is too short and I have eaten more pizza rolls.

And now for our top stories:

Tara

John and another

Mark

Adan

The Rules

There are none. Read the prompts, get inspired, write something. No word count minimum or maximum. You don’t have to include the exact prompt in your piece, and you can interpret the prompt(s) any way you like.

OR

No really; I need rules!

Okay; write 200-500 words on the prompt of your choice. You may either use the prompt as the title of your piece or work it into the body of your piece. You must complete it before 6 pm CST on the Monday following this post.

The Prompts:

BOOK DROWNING

SPIDER’S RANSOM

ARMED AND GLAMOROUS

ANKLE BITERS

  1. “SPIDER’S RANSOM” Oh, you are just askin for it, you know that? Here I am, trying to write for the last leg of the Mythgard writing contest, wanting to read your next installment, trying to edit my next chapter to send to you, and all this on top of a normal work schedule, and you have to go bait my most active and demanding character. That’s like wagging a steak in front of a lion at the zoo. Not cool!

“ARMED AND GLAMOROUS” is fabulous. And I was chuckling about the Tumeric tea. The pizza roll, thing is a problem, though. We need to find you a healthier coping mechanism.

    • You could try using the prompt for the contest piece? But I guess you wouldn’t be able to use it the way you’re itching to. Sorry. Mwahahahahaha?

Seriously, my toothbrush is bright yellow and peroxide is doing nothing for it. I could get a new one, but I’m just going to keep drinking the tea, so what’s the point?

Hey, I only ate five pizza rolls, and the rest of the day I was very healthy. Fruit smoothies and black bean soup and Greek yogurt all over the place.

      • It’s unlikely that he will be that cooperative. He doesn’t really do cooperative.
Is one allowed to laugh maniacally in question form? I thought that was against villainous etiquette as it makes one sound uncertain in one’s villainy.

I bet peroxide is ineffective because the yellow is oil-based. But what’s wrong with a bright yellow toothbrush, after all? I’d be more worried about your teeth turning bright yellow. 😉

Just don’t blame me if you end up in pizza roll addiction counseling.

        • I suppose the inquisitive form of the maniacal laugh is for use when you did not intend to cause pain, but are willing to accept the credit for it anyway.

I dunno, bright yellow toothbrushes are weird. It looks dirty. My teeth are yellow from coffee/tea anyway. I tell people I had them professionally antiqued.

“Hi, my name is Stephanie, and I’m a pizza-roll addict. I’ve been blaming my addiction on my critique partner, but I finally realized I have to start taking responsibility for my own diet if I am to change.”… “Lord, grant me the serenity to wait for the next chapter, the courage to eat the salad in my fridge before it goes bad, and the wisdom to find the correct spinach-to-crouton ratio.”

          • That does make sense. I can accept that. 😉

Yeah, mine too. Gotta love those tannins.

ROTFL! Oh, laughing so hard. You forgot “and grant me the wisdom not to throw around spider-related prompts” 😉

  2. I couldn’t help myself. “Ankle Biters” sounded like a great gross-out horror story to me…
