The Rules

There are none. Read the prompts, get inspired, write something. No word count minimum or maximum. You don’t have to include the exact prompt in your piece, and you can interpret the prompt(s) any way you like.

OR

No really; I need rules!

Okay; write 200-500 words on the prompt of your choice. You may either use the prompt as the title of your piece or work it into the body of your piece. You must complete it before 6 pm CST on the Monday following this post.

  1. Alas, poor Jerry. What kind of spider? The monsterkid at the bottom of the lake very much wants to know. ^_~

    “UNDERCOVER OPTIMIST” Oooooo…

    • Apologize to the Child of the Wooden Sword, but I don’t know. It was tiny and gold? I’m trying to search images on Google but it’s freaking me out. I don’t think it was a recluse or I would’ve killed it a long time ago. But I’m no spider-identification expert. See, I had this unspoken deal with the spiders (there’s another one named Jimmy) that if they stayed in the bathroom where I could see them, I would leave them alone. But I found a spider in my bedroom, killed it, and upon returning to the bathroom, found Jerry had vanished. I can only assume…now I’m thinking I should finish the job and kill Jimmy before he, too, decides to invade my personal space.

      Also: BEEEEEEARD.

      • He disapproves of preemptive strikes against spiders. Also, rather hilariously, both he and the sword object(sarcastically)to the implication that it is his parent. 😉

Hmm… chubby little abdomen and spindly little legs? Like this? (arachnophobes, do not click this link) http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3237/2974659626_89f5aa38a7.jpg
If so, it’s probably some sort of Parasteatoda Tepidariorum, common House Spider.

        Beeeard…

        • Well I was going to say WITH the wooden sword, but since it’s missing, it wouldn’t really be accurate. 😛

The house spider might be it. It’s hard to tell, the thing’s so tiny, and I don’t have a magnifying glass. I’ll let Jimmy live…for now.

          • That is very true.

I find the tinier they are, the more gold they look, and they’re very common. A recluse wouldn’t usually be out in the open, and they’re shaped differently, too. Hurrah for a live Jimmy! Here’s hoping he is wise enough not to encroach on the Forbidden Lands.

  2. *shudder* spiders creep me out.

This week, I went with Last Meal…

  3. I loved Water Proof, and it made the last part of my serial series, Debate the Case, tight as a drum. (This post goes live Sunday, October 25th.)
