This week in the InMon jungle: Contemplating the ethical ramifications of purchasing a goldfish, apparently. In other news, mysterious non-grass plant sprouting in my herb bed despite generous distribution of corn gluten meal. Sparkly undersides; potentially extraterrestrial.

And now for our top stories:

The Rules

There are none. Read the prompts, get inspired, write something. No word count minimum or maximum. You don’t have to include the exact prompt in your piece, and you can interpret the prompt(s) any way you like.

OR

No really; I need rules!

Okay; write 200-500 words on the prompt of your choice. You may either use the prompt as the title of your piece or work it into the body of your piece. You must complete it before 6 pm CST on the Monday following this post.

The Prompts:

Goldfish Scandal
Roots and Wings
Knights of the Square Table
Living Engines
Starscape

  1. I love goldfish… they’re a lot of work, though.
    O_o sparkly plant?

    • Yeah, someone else will be taking care of the goldfish. I just have to come up with the world’s cleverest name for it. ASAP. No pressure. Sometimes I can’t believe my job.

The undersides of the leaves look sparkly to me. But it’s a very fine sparkle, like white eye shadow.

      • My brother named his goldfish Hat. I never could get a satisfactory answer as to why.

Pictures? I haven’t forgotten about the other email. Stuff just keeps happening before I finish my reply!

  2. Here’s my final installment of the “Firefly” look alike. It was fun.
