This week on planet InMon: Unconfirmed reports out of the weekend indicate InMonster Zero may have broken through the block in Part Three of her WIP. Experts are looking into it.

In other news, Never give up, never surrender: In case you hadn’t heard, they’re making Galaxy Quest into a series.

The Rules

There are none. Read the prompts, get inspired, write something. No word count minimum or maximum. You don’t have to include the exact prompt in your piece, and you can interpret the prompt(s) any way you like.

OR

No really; I need rules!

Okay; write 200-500 words on the prompt of your choice. You may either use the prompt as the title of your piece or work it into the body of your piece. You must complete it before 6 pm CST on the Monday following this post.

The Prompts:

Goldfish Heart
Dressed Wound
Anything Nailed Down
Meta Metaphor
Daylight Oil
Want to share your Inspiration Monday piece? Post it on your blog and then give me the link in the comments below (I’ll also love you more if you link back to me); I’ll include a link to your piece in the next Inspiration Monday post. No blog? Email your piece to me at stephanie (at) bekindrewrite (dot) com. (I do reserve the right to NOT link to a piece as stated in my Link Discretion Policy.)

  1. Oh, I hope my muse decides to run with “Daylighy Oil.” It’s chewing on it, trying to decide.

The problem with a Galaxy Quest series is the tragic unlikelihood of getting Rickman and Weaver to be in it!

  2. ((a decidedly green, and fairly large dragon lands, with shocking delicacy, considering its size, in the blog))

Stephanie? My author wants to give you an award, and said to give you this: https://jubilare.wordpress.com/2015/05/19/dragons-loyalty-award/

Nice blog, by the way. Very neat and clean. Though I’ve been wondering… why is it called a “blog?” Seems like a very ugly word for something that can be quite nice.

    • It’s a shortening of “web log” coined by Jorn Barger in 1997.

      • ((tilts head to one side as he thinks about this)) Interesting. I usually like composite words. This one, not so much.

    • ((The blogger is simultaneously startled, awed, and self-conscious.))
Oh my! ((she says to the dragon,)) I’m honored! Both by this award and by your presence! I hope that we can be friends. Although, ((she adds, biting her lip,)) that doesn’t mean I am willing to help you floss your teeth. My last dragon friend asked me to help him floss, and it took years for all my hair to grow back.

      • ((The dragon flicks one long ear and laughs, revealing several rows of teeth)) I think you may have been the victim of a practical joke. Why floss when one can spit fire?

  3. Darn, did I miss last weeks deadline? Thought I had it… ah well, will try and do another this week. :'(

  4. It’s been a while, but I’m back with an offering that definitely won’t sit well with the squeamish. I give you “Hungry”: https://adanramieblog.wordpress.com/2015/05/21/hungry-cannibal-flash-fiction-for-three-prompts/

  5. Here’s my weekly contribution. Next month I’ll probably be having another new knee put in place since I am missing a ligament and have to walk with a brace and walker. So, I may not be contributing in June.
