This week in InMonatopia:
I found my Tolstoy! Now I can’t find my crayons. Authorities are looking into the theory that the universe is conspiring against me.
And now for our top stories.

The Rules
There are none. Read the prompts, get inspired, write something. No word count minimum or maximum. You don’t have to include the exact prompt in your piece, and you can interpret the prompt(s) any way you like.
OR
No really; I need rules!
Okay; write 200-500 words on the prompt of your choice. You may either use the prompt as the title of your piece or work it into the body of your piece. You must complete it before 6 pm CST on the Monday following this post.
The Prompts:
FRIEND FOR HIRE
BLACK WIDOW’S PEAK
COMPANY LOYALTY
BIODEGRADABLE
AFTERSHOCK

Happy writing!
I now have visions of your coloring your Tolstoy. Please tell me this is accurate. I so want it to be true!
Sadly, the two are unrelated. I’d just finished reading Dostoyevsky and wanted to try Tolstoy next. And though the book is greenish, I had for some reason placed it with my black books. The crayons I lost at work – they are useful stress relievers during mind-numbing creative slumps. I think one of the art directors must have needed them for something. Perhaps their own Tolstoys are woefully monochromatic.
I went for Friend for Hire

Here’s a late entry but I gave it a shot. How are you doing? I’ve been gone so long I almost forgot how to post. Lucy
