Inspiration Monday: Smells Like Disaster

The beginning of the third in a string of long weeks. My thoughts are sparks I cannot fathom into conflagrations. No…my thoughts are classes I cannot fathom into concentrations. No, that’s not it…my thoughts are parishioners I cannot fathom into congregations?

The Rules

There are none. Read the prompts, get inspired, write something. No word count minimum or maximum. You don’t have to include the exact prompt in your piece, and you can interpret the prompt(s) any way you like.

OR

No really; I need rules!

Okay; write 200-500 words on the prompt of your choice. You may either use the prompt as the title of your piece or work it into the body of your piece. You must complete it before 6 pm CST on the Monday following this post.

The Prompts:

SMELLS LIKE DISASTER*
FROGS OF WAR
 TRAVELING SALESMAN
WAKE A SLEEPING DWARF
GOURMET HOSE WATER
Want to share your Inspiration Monday piece? Post it on your blog and then give me the link in the comments below (I’ll also love you more if you link back to me); I’ll include a link to your piece in the next Inspiration Monday post. No blog? Email your piece to me at stephanie (at) bekindrewrite (dot) com. (I do reserve the right to NOT link to a piece as stated in my Link Discretion Policy.)

Plus, get the InMon badge for your site here.

Happy writing!

  1. Hey there, Steph! I’ve got a couple of stories for you this week, InMonsters – both very short (one is around 250 words, the other is only 25). Let me know what you think!

The Sun is Here! Wait Up!

  2. I guess I misread the prompt ever-so-slightly. I went with “The Smell of Disaster” instead of “Smell Like Disaster”. Hope you don’t mind too much…especially as you claim there are no rules 🙂 Chapter 5 of my story can be found at https://quest4peas.wordpress.com/2015/01/29/asteroid-rake-ch-5/

  3. “Smells like disaster” made me think of a moment to which I’m sure all parents can relate: https://standinginacorner.wordpress.com/2015/01/30/disaster/
