I must rise early to write about cheese.

But look! It seems things are picking up!

The Rules

There are none. Read the prompts, get inspired, write something. No word count minimum or maximum. You don’t have to include the exact prompt in your piece, and you can interpret the prompt(s) any way you like.

OR

No really; I need rules!

Okay; write 200-500 words on the prompt of your choice. You may either use the prompt as the title of your piece or work it into the body of your piece. You must complete it before 6 pm CST on the Monday following this post.

The Prompts:

THE LONG HELLO

FIGHT FOR DEPENDENCE

THE KEY OF H

TRAPPED IN THE AUTOMAT

  1. I’ve decided to continue the story that I started last week, and have utilized the prompt “Fight for Dependence”. I’m already looking forward to finding out next week’s prompts, so that I can find out what is going to happen to my character!

  2. This is a long piece, just as a warning to anyone who might not wish to read such.

  3. Well hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Have you eaten the cheese about which you write? I love cheese.

    • Omigosh. I forgot the title prompt AND what I wrote in the intro, so for I second I thought you had either been hacked or were drunk. I’m laughing so hard right now.

I actually write about dairy in general for my local dairy council; no particular brand. But specificity sounds so much better in writing. And I, too, love cheese.

      • Lol! Either one would be a reasonable conclusion, under the circumstances, though I’ve never been drunk in my life. My general dislike of the taste of alcohol has kept me fairly safe from that. 😉

Anyhow, I’m glad to be good for a laugh.

        • Yeah, I can’t see the draw of being drunk. Never have been and never plan to be. But I do enjoy one drink every now and then – a little buzz is nice. And as for the taste of alcohol, my friend, that is what cocktails are for! Nothing like a good margarita or mojito.

          • Tequila and I really don’t get along… but my brother does make some good cocktails. I must have some hard-drinking genes somewhere in my background, because I can actually hold my drink well, if I can get any past my finicky taste-buds. I always feel like the odd-woman out in my family, though, as everyone else enjoys wine, or beer, or gin-and-tonic, or in my brother’s case, whiskey!

Theoretically, I can sort of see why people like being drunk, but I saw enough in college to confirm that it really wasn’t a state I wanted to try out for myself. 😛

          • How sad about tequila! How do you feel about vodka?

I can’t get past the taste with beer or wine, either (unless it’s Champagne…so maybe I should try other sparkling wines). That’s funny; my brother’s the odd one out in my family. He doesn’t drink – not necessarily because of the taste, but because of the feeling. After his first drink, he said (and I quote) “I shouldn’t feel this good.” Go figure.

  4. It’s been a while since i joined in with Inspiration Monday. Will try harder in 2015 to make a regular contribution.

The prompt ‘Blue With Envy’ struck a chord, albeit a strange one!

  6. Hah! “I shouldn’t feel this good” is a funny reaction. The reason I don’t get on with tequila is that it once shut down my physical coordination without the pleasant “buzz” one is supposed to feel (and which I’ve never experienced) and without shutting down any of my mental ability… resulting in my carrying out a normal conversation, but being acutely aware that if I moved, disaster would result. …it was a very unpleasant experience. :\
I haven’t had any similar experiences with vodka, though. I tend to drink White Russians, when I drink anything.

I want to learn to like wine… I guess because I like the idea of wine? I’m not a fan of champagne, though.

    • Gahh, I’m the same way – about wine, I mean. It’s so sophisticated, and not generally associated with alcoholism, and it seems like it would be so good with cheese. But I just can’t get into it. To be fair, I haven’t tried much of it, but I’m stopped by the smell before anything else.

How completely annoying to get the physical shutdown without the buzz. Makes it completely useless as a social lubricant / liquid courage. I imagine it would be a rather scary feeling, too.

      • I like the smell of wine when it’s used in cooking, but you’re right, it doesn’t smell nice when you’re lifting it to your lips. 😛

Aye. Luckily I was with, of all people, my parents and a couple of their friends, so I felt entirely safe, though perhaps more ridiculous. 😉
