Interstellar. IMAX. Groundbreaking? No. Really really cool? Yes. Go.

And the plot thickens in this week’s reading materials:

The Rules

There are none. Read the prompts, get inspired, write something. No word count minimum or maximum. You don’t have to include the exact prompt in your piece, and you can interpret the prompt(s) any way you like.

OR

No really; I need rules!

Okay; write 200-500 words on the prompt of your choice. You may either use the prompt as the title of your piece or work it into the body of your piece. You must complete it before 6 pm CST on the Monday following this post.

The Prompts:

NERVOUS SYSTEM

MINDLESS FUN

ON PAIN OF LIFE

RUNAWAY PIANO

FALSE START

  1. Ohhhh… I love the ideas I am getting from “NERVOUS SYSTEM.” If only I had time! I must file this one away for later.

    • I know! I imagined a planet-wide computer system a la Mike from Moon is a Harsh Mistress, which has gained sentience, and mostly spends its time passively observing the humans, until it begins…to notice…a pattern. And the pattern has inspired a gnawing fear in the computer’s metallic brain. A fear that something terrible is drawing near.

I don’t know what the terrible thing is, but it seems like it could be cool. If, as you say, I had the time.
