Inspiration Monday: Kindergarten Spies

Well, NaNoWriMo has begun. Any of you doing it? I imagine it might be a slow month for InMon. But you can always use one of these prompts for your next chapter. And of course there’s something good to read for inspiration right now:

Tara

Lucy

Adan

The Rules

There are none. Read the prompts, get inspired, write something. No word count minimum or maximum. You don’t have to include the exact prompt in your piece, and you can interpret the prompt(s) any way you like.

OR

No really; I need rules!

Okay; write 200-500 words on the prompt of your choice. You may either use the prompt as the title of your piece or work it into the body of your piece. You must complete it before 6 pm CST on the Monday following this post.

The Prompts:

KINDERGARTEN SPIES

BLEEDING COLORS

INSPIRATION KILLER

CANDLELIT BREAKFAST

ORANGE YOU MAD

Want to share your Inspiration Monday piece? Post it on your blog and then give me the link in the comments below (I’ll also love you more if you link back to me); I’ll include a link to your piece in the next Inspiration Monday post. No blog? Email your piece to me at stephanie (at) bekindrewrite (dot) com. (I do reserve the right to NOT link to a piece as stated in my Link Discretion Policy.)

Plus, get the InMon badge for your site here.

Happy writing!

  1. I know many people love it, or at least find it useful, but NaNoWriMo sounds like a kind of compacted, stressful hell, to me. It would probably give my muse the mopes.

    • It does me for certain. I found it grueling and awful.

    • I suspect the same. I’ve actually always wanted to do it, but only under the right circumstances, like if I wasn’t working full time and happened to be starting a new project. It seems like it would be good motivation for getting a first draft done quickly. I’ve just never been at that point at that time of year.

  2. NaNoWriMo: been there, done that, never again! I write a lot, but I hate writing in that way, trying to cram x number of words into each day. What came out the times I tried it in the past was crap, and I’ve never gone back to try and edit it because I ended up hating it.
My hat is off to anyone who does it, though!

  3. I am doing NaNo in addition to some new freelance work. You’ve always got good leads. I’m just trying to get a good schedule down that allows me to do a bit of everything.

  4. NaNo is just too stressful for me. All the word-count quotas take some of the fun out of writing. I am attempting NaBloPoMo. Every day posting is easier for me than 50,000 words.

  5. Well, I didn’t have the motivation to write every week, never mind every day and certainly didn’t have feel motivated enough to commit to NaNoWriMo.

    Maybe next year.

  6. Here’s my submission for the week. Hope you like it. Lucy
