Inspiration Monday: Is That A Real Place?

Listening to this Welcome to Night Vale thing everyone’s talking about. I don’t know if I like it yet…it’s so…strange. Do any of y’all listen to it?

Just a few this week, but good ones.

The Rules

There are none. Read the prompts, get inspired, write something. No word count minimum or maximum. You don’t have to include the exact prompt in your piece, and you can interpret the prompt(s) any way you like.

OR

No really; I need rules!

Okay; write 200-500 words on the prompt of your choice. You may either use the prompt as the title of your piece or work it into the body of your piece. You must complete it before 6 pm CST on the Monday following this post.

The Prompts:

IS THAT A REAL PLACE?

VOID THAT THINKS*

  1. First I have heard of it. It’s true, I live under a rock. 😉
    I am curious, though.

    • I’m suddenly hearing about it everywhere. It’s a podcast like an old-time horror radio show, but done in the style of a news broadcast for a small desert town called Night Vale, where many mysterious things happen, but no one seems to think anything of it. It’s clever and funny, but also weird. And the narrator is more announcer-y than natural, which I’m not sure I like. It’s free on iTunes if you wanna giva listen.

      • I’ve listened to it a bit now. It’s sort of like Lovecraft meets more modern conspiracy theories, and yes, very weird. I’m a bit torn between the humor and the despair, but I think the despair is winning out, so far. 😛

  2. Couldn’t help it. Had to be done. It’s silly and sweet. It’s a shout out to one of my favorite book series. I hope you like it: http://thematticuskingdom.wordpress.com/2014/03/18/dreams/

Can’t believe there were only 3 entries last week. We’ve all been slacking!

  5. It’s been a long time since I joined in with an InMon prompt.
I must try and visit more often.
